There is a big lie going around in the world which is: "I am a good person. I don't need Jesus. I don't need to be saved."
That has to be one of the biggest tools the devil uses to keep people out of the Kingdom of God. That is also one of the most prideful statements you could ever make. That is just like slapping Jesus in the face. You are saying, "Lord, I don't need you. I have my own righteousness."
Isaiah 64:6 says, But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.
Romans 3:10 says, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Ro 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Romans 3:18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Ro 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification],
Ro 1:21 Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and [a]godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened.
That says that God has revealed to mankind his power & Godhead. So they have no excuse for not acknowledging Him as the only True God. And they have no excuse for not being thankful to Him. They have let their thinking & their hearts become dark.
2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2co 4:4 In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
I went through the motions when I was a young mother. I got baptized and took my child to church, but I didn't really turn my life and my heart over to the Lord. So when I would read the Bible I didn't understand it. It wasn't long before I was out of church & back to my old life.
Years later I truly repented and got baptized and buried the old person that I was and gave my heart and life to Jesus. I could tell that a change had happened.
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Ro 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Ro 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Ro 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
There is an old song that says, "You don't have to ask nobody you can feel it in your soul". I knew I was a new creature in Christ. The Word of God opened up to me and for the first time I understood what it said. And I have been hungry for the Word of God ever since.
1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1 Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 1
Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
I have heard people say, "I will come to church when I get my life right." That is impossible. You can't make your life right. Only the blood of Jesus can do that. If were able to get our life right by ourselves then Jesus would not have had to go to the cross and suffer untold agony in our place. He was the only "Sinless Lamb" who could take away our sins.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
People think being a Christian is a sad sorry life, that you can't enjoy life. That is such a lie. Being a Christian is the best life you can live. Not only do you have a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Jesus), but He is ever present to help you in whatever situation you are going through.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
John 14:27. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
You will never truly know peace until you know Jesus. He is the Prince of Peace.
There is a saying and it goes: No Jesus No Peace; Know Jesus Know Peace. That is so true.
Turning your heart and life over to Jesus will be the best decision you will ever make. He is waiting with open arms to receive you into His family.
