John 14:12-14. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do
shall he do also; and greater works than these shall ye do, because I go unto my Father.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If ye shall ask anything in my name I will do it.

Notice that in verse 12, Jesus did not say, "Verily I say to these 12 men", but He said,
"He that believeth on me."

In Mark chapter 16, Jesus said, "These signs shall follow them that believe."
The subject I want to talk to you about is the authority that we have been given in the name
of Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus.  Jesus tells us here that his works are not to cease, but that they are to be increased. In a sense he has said if you believe what I have
taught you, walk in it and continue in it and I'll give you the authority to carry it out.
Hebrews 1:4 tells us that being made so much better than the angels as he hath by
inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.Philippians 2:9-11.  Wherefore God
hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven, and things in earth and things under
the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of
God the Father.

The name of Jesus is given by inheritance, a name above every other name.
Now let's go to another scripture.

Romans 8:16-17. The Spirit itself beareth witness with
our spirit, that we are the children of God, and if children then heirs: heirs of God and joint
heirs with Christ (the Anointed) if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together.
If you have been born of Jesus and filled with his Spirit, then you have become part of the
family and authorized to use the name.
Romans 17 tells us something else. If you aren't willing to suffer the persecution that
comes with it, you won't walk in the power of it.

Jesus told his disciples; "Use my name."Another part of the power of the name is that Jesus did
exploits. He demonstrated the power, he won the battle of the power of darkness.
JESUS IS THE NAME OF VICTORY!

Colossians 2:15. And having spoiled principalities and powers he made a show of them openly
triumphing over them in it.

This is a glimpse of Jesus in combat. A host of demons could not conquer him, and death could not
hold him. Jesus conquered Satan before Satan's own cohorts, on his own territory in the region of the damned. He took the keys of death and the grave away from him and set his captives free. Jesus stood
on Satan's own territory as the Master and the Victor.Make no mistake, it is the name of Jesus that
Satan and his league fear and must obey.

In Matthew 28:18 Jesus said after he had been crucified and had risen, he appeared to his disciples
and said,
"All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
In Luke 10:19 he said, "Behold, I give
you power."
In Mark 16:17 he said, "These signs shall follow them that believe, in my name they shall cast out
devils, they shall speak with new tongues, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover."
In Acts 3:16
Peter told them of the lame man who was healed, "His name, through faith in his name
hath made this man strong.
Acts 4:12. Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved.
Friend, we started out talking about being joint heirs, and how Jesus by inheritance obtained a more
excellent name. The walk Jesus walked on earth was a pattern for you and me.  The only way to walk
in the authority of the name is to be born into it, to receive the Spirit of adoption is to receive the name
of the family adopting.  If you have been buried with him in baptism and resurrected into the newness
of life by his Spirit, then you have been authorized to use his name and continue the family business.
That business is destroying the works of the devil.
If you have not been born into the kingdom, if you have not received his name, if you have neglected
so great a salvation, let me ask you today; "What doth hinder you?"
Today you can be authorized to walk in victory over the devil. You can be a member of the household
of God with all the benefits of the power of the family name.  Jesus is the name of the sacrifice that
was given for you.
