HOW TO RECEIVE SALVATION
Many people think if they live a good life they will automatically go to heaven. That idea is just like slapping Jesus in the face and saying, "What you did wasn't necessary. I don't need your help."
Believe me we all need Jesus. He paid the sin debt for all mankind. All we have to do is just accept his gift of salvation and follow His instructions from the Bible.
Here are some scriptures that tell how to do that.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord, our God, shall call.
Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
Repent: Strong's #3340: To change one's mind for better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one's past sins.
Repentance doesn't just mean you are sorry. It means to be sorry enough not to live in your old ways anymore.
We all make mistakes sometimes, but we should not be living in a sinful life style once we are saved.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name (Jesus) under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
There is a scripture in Matthew 28:19 that says to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
The word "name" here in the Greek means "authority" or "character".
I Corinthians 6:11 says but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
The Bible says in Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Jeremiah 24:7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
We must give Jesus our whole heart, not just some little corner of it. If we let Him run our lives, He will do it right. He knows what lies ahead for us, and He will keep us from making mistakes, if we will follow His plan for our lives.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Being "Born Again" means you are a whole new person: Old things are passed away and all things become new. We must change our ideas from earthly to heavenly. What the world thinks we should do is just the opposite of what God wants us to do.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
The Holy Spirit helps us do things as we should. If we start to do something that is not pleasing to God, the Holy Spirit will nudge us and remind us that it is wrong. But God gave us a free will. We can do His will or do our own.
Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Ezekiel 18:30 ....Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
32 For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
God has no pleasure in the death of anyone. He doesn't want to see any perish.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
I have heard people say, "Only believe in God and you will be saved." But I read in my Bible that all who believed were also baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is necessary to walk the Christian life. He is the seal of God on our lives. We just read earlier that if we have not the Spirit of God, we are none of His (Romans 8:9).
Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou?arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Converted: N.T. - Matthew 18:3 - 4762 - To twist - turn quite around or reverse - turn (again, back again, self about).
Dictionary - To change into something of different form or properties - transmute - transform - to change in character, cause to turn from an evil life to a righteous one.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
That's what we must do. Read and do God's Word every day, and we will be His disciples.
