He is Risen – Go And Tell The Redemption Story Of Christ Jesus
Matthew 28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
Ya know… as Easter approaches I think about what it means to have a risen savior and about my family, friends and loved ones that are lost. If there is one thing about my Savior Jesus that I could say to them this Easter what would it be? What would I share? So many people are suffering from the hurt, pain, grief and sorrows that a life of sin has brought upon their lives. Sometimes my heart aches because of the hope that they can’t see, or the hand of the Lord that is reaching out and longing for them, that they don’t grab ahold of.
Luke 19:41 And when he(Jesus) was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
While yet there are others living so close to the cross, they are honest, they treat others right, do good, but still don’t know the Savior.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
This scripture reads no man; not even a good man can enter into the kingdom without coming through the blood of Jesus. A lot of people don’t like to hear that. But I am going to tell you, without Jesus they will face a dreadful eternity in hell. We should have our hearts set on seeing the lost saved all year long and Easter give us an easier opportunity to share the good news of a Savior.
There are 2 times a year when people will be more acceptable at hearing the Gospel of Christ. That is Christmas and Easter. They don’t give Jesus a second thought until one of these 2 holidays come by. As Christians we should be prepared to share the Gospel at all times, but especially at these times. As families gather together, some people will hear the message of Christ for the first time, while others are being put in rememberance of a fellowship with Christ they once knew. Some children will be hearing grace said at the dinner table for the first time. There is no Jesus in the daily lives of their parents or in their homes.
What if someones eternity rested upon you telling them about your Savior?
Maybe its for the first time or maybe your bringing it to their remembrance again.
Are you prepared to share the Gospel of Christ with the lost?
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
The Easter Story is a beautiful story. The love of God has reached down to touch His very own creation and deliver them out of the hand of their enemy (Satan).
1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
I am going to go all the way back to the book of Genesis. That is where the woks of the devil were made manifest to all mankind.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Often times when you mention the devil, demons or evil spirits, people will fear or deny that they exist. People expect to see some great big scary poltergeist type manifestation of his presence, but he doesn’t have to appear that way. As we see here he came by a gentle deception. He is still deceiving many people today. They are walking along lost and falling deeper into sin because he has deceived them just has he deceived Eve.
God created man in His image.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Then came the fall of man where they ate of the apple. When they ate of the apple, God said death would come in that day.
Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Death did come upon them in that very day. It was a spiritual death.
Adam committed high treason, by his transgression all mankind from that point on was born into the nature of sin. This is the reason for the need for a Savior. Mankind has been sold out to the realm of sin and death. Man could not redeem himself from satan’s dominion. We needed now a savior to come and redeem us out of Satans hand. This is the work Christ came to do, as we read earlier He (Christ) came to destroy the works of the devil.
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
If you want to know what all Christ redeemed you from, look into Deuteronomy chapter 28 at the curse. You will be amazed at all the things in there, sickness, disease, poverty.
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
We often only look at salvation for the soul but healing was a part of the redemptive work of Christ also.
If a man or woman could grab ahold of that truth, he or she could have their healing instantly. God does not make us sick, he heals the sick. (To read more on that look in Luke 11:14-20, Matthew 9:35)
The penalty of the fall of Adam was tremendous upon mankind, there was no man that was able to redeem mankind from this fall, every man would be born into the sin nature. It would require a sinless substitue (Jesus).
The Passover for Israel gives us a picture of what was to take place on the cross. They were to place a covering of blood over them.
Ex 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover.
12 ForI will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of EgyptI will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Israel was covered by the blood of a spotless lamb. If they did not apply the blood or if they used something other than a spotless lamb, the covering would not work. It is the same with Jesus. He is our blood covering, if we dont accept the Savior no other way will work. When the end comes and God passes through the land and executes judgement and man will face an eternity in hell if he is not covered by the blood of Jesus.
It is a picture of the cross, The fall of man was great and it would require a spotless lamb, an incarnate one (Jesus).
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Are you seeing the picture? The word had to come wrapped in flesh, born of a virgin, placed in the hands of His very own creation as a babe, to show us how to live, then die upon a cross, be buried in a tomb and raise 3 days later to redeem mankind from the grips of Satan. What a God of love that is, to love His creation (us) so much that He would go to such great lengths for us. Brothers and Sisters that is Love.
Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
That He came and shed His blood, to bring us nigh(close) to Him.
That He would go to such great lengths to redeem us from the realm of sin and death.
He saw beyond His sacrifice to our need for a Savior.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Ohh Glory be to God, He didn’t stay in that ole tomb. Death could not hold Him. He raised from the dead
He laid down His life and He raised it back up.
John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
And because death could not hold Him, and He raised from the dead, the blood was applied in heaven.
Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true;but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Jesus had to appear before God the Father with the shed blood. This is why He told Mary not to touch Him when He arose from the dead. “Jesus saith unto her, TOUCH ME NOT; FOR I AM NOT YET ASCENDED TO MY FATHER: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” (John 20:17).
If Mary had touched Jesus, the blood sacrifice would have been tainted with corruption. Jesus was heading towards heaven with the blood which needed to be applied to the mercy seat in Heaven.
Hebrews 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
In the Old Covenant the Israelites had to goto a priest, but look at what has now happened. Jesus is our High Priest
Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Jesus’ tabernacle is in Heaven, not on earth. Hebrews 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
This is the redemptive story, Praise God!
Our God saw our need, sent a savior and redeemed us.
1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory
It makes scriptures like Romans 8:32 and Hebrews 4:16, so powerful to me.
Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
There is something about redemption that is left unto us. It is the choice to accept it. We can choose Him and the plan of salvation he has laid before us. It is not His will that any should perish but we all know some will perish, the bible says so, there will be wheeping and gnashing of teeth.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Matthew 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Friends we need to have a heart for the lost. One day these days will come to pass and it will be to late for some.
I haven’t talked much about baptism but I am about to. I want to tell you I believe in water baptism and that it is a part of the redemptive work of Christ just as healing was a part of the redemptive work. Water baptism, as taught and demonstrated by Jesus, is how believers identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
Look at what Peter said when he went out preaching about the Kingdom
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Maybe you have repented and asked the Lord to come in and be the Lord of your life and you have received already the gift of the Holy Ghost but you haven’t been baptized.
Cornelious was a good man Acts 10:2 calls him a devout man and one that feared (meaning reverenced) God with all his house. He had received the Holy Ghost just as those at Pentecost did and look at what happened at Pentecost to those who received the word that was being preached in Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
3000 souls believed and went to be baptized. Now back to the story of Cornelious you can see why Cornelious was baptized, just as those at Pentecost were baptized.
Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? (48) And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Those who believed when out and got baptized. Cornelious had received the Holy Ghost just as the others, but he needed to be baptized just as they needed to be baptized in the above scriptures.
Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
I like the illustration a friend gave me. You won’t necessarily see it in this order as you see in Cornelious’s story, but it is a good illustration. It shows a good representation of the meaning of what we read.
Repentance (to turn from) - Death
Baptism (water) - Burial
Holy Ghost (the indwelling of the Spirit of God in man) – Resurrection
Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name (meaning authority) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Jesus is the only way into the Kingdom of Heaven
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Christ paid the debt for us,and a mighty price He paid.
Isaiah 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes weare healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Jesus paid the price and we got the blessing!
Galations 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: (14) That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Mans redemption has been paid, our sin debt covered by the blood of a spotless, sinless, incarnate one named JESUS. And if we will follow His plan of salvatioin, we can share all eternity with Him.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
I want to encourage you to share the redemption story this Easter with those who do not know it.
Tell what the Lord has done for you and in your life.
We each have a different redemptive story of how the Lord found us and how he has moved in our life.
To those of you who don’t know Jesus as your Savior, I want to encourage you to come to salvation! To let Jesus be the the Lord of your life. To Let Jesus lead and guide you through this life. He will be a light and a guide through the storms of life and a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend(Jesus) that sticketh closer than a brother.
It’s a simple prayer, you don’t need big fancy words.
You just need to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, sent to redeem man by the shedding of His blood, that He raised from the dead and ascended into heaven where your sin debt became paid in full.
Repent (turn from your sin)
Be baptized (Immersion/buried with Him in water)
Receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in you)
Find a bible believing church where the Spirit of God is dwelling and moving and continue in the faith.
Let Him be your help through the storms of life.
God Bless and Happy Easter,
