What Is Faith?
Faith : Persuasion - Creedence - Moral conviction - Reliance upon Christ for salvation - Constancy in such profession - Assurance - Belief.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
When you thank God before the miracle comes, that's faith.
When you thank God after the miracle, that's gratitude.
Faith Is One Of The Fruits Of The Spirit.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Faith Is A Gift Of The Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.8 For to one is given by the Spirit
the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same
Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.
Faith Is Part Of The Armour Of God.
Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of
1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and
for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
How Do We Get Faith?
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious
faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.
The 11th chapter of Hebrews shows all the examples of faith.
Every Man Has Been Given The Measure Of Faith.
Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of
himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
We Are Saved Through Faith.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not
of works, lest any man should boast.
It Is Impossible To Please God Without Faith.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he
is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Jesus Is The Author & Finisher Of Our Faith.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
We Are To Live By Faith.
Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall
live by faith.
Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Habukkuk 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Our Faith Should Be In God.
1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1 Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your
faith and hope might be in God.
We Should Profess (Confess) Our Faith.
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from
an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith
without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;).
Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word
of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
We Should Not Have Faith With Partiality.
James 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
Whatever Is Not Of Faith Is Sin.
Romans 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. 23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Faith Should Be Sincere.
1 Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience,
and of faith unfeigned.
Faith Is Counted For Righteousness.
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted
for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
Our Righteousness Is By Faith.
Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law
and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all
them that believe: for there is no difference.
Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.
Galatians 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
We Are Justified By Faith.
Justified: To render just or innocent - free - be righteous.
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ,
even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works
of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Our Hearts Are Purified By Faith.
Acts 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he
did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
Faith Works By Love.
Galatians 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge;
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
We Are Kept By God Through Faith.
1 Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
We Are Sanctified By Faith.
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in
We Are To Examine Ourselves.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your
own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Our Faith Will Be Tried.
1 Peter 1:6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through
manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth,
though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
We Need Works With Our Faith. Works Make Faith Perfect.
James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith
save him? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith,
and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou
believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.20 But wilt thou know,
O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith
made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto
him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
All Men Do Not Have Faith.
2 Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Although every man is given the measure of faith, some do not use their faith.
We Overcome The World Through Faith.
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the
world, even our faith.
We Should Contend (fight) For Faith.
Contend: Concordance #1864 - Struggle for.
Contend: Dictionary: To struggle in opposition - To strive in rivalry - compete - vie - grapple - battle - fight -
argue - wrangle.
Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and
see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving
together for the faith of the gospel.
We Are To Add Things To Our Faith.
2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye
shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things
is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the
rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never
fall: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
All Things Are Possible Through Faith.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith
as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall
remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Mustard is a plant that can't be crossbred. It is pure. It can't be polluted or mixed with anything else. Our faith should be the same way.
Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye
shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed,
and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing,
ye shall receive.
Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That
whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt
in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them. 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father
also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father
which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a
grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou
planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
Acts 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea,
the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
The End Of Our Faith Is Salvation.
Through FAITH we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:3
