I recently read that according to polls taken by one of the major news networks, 6 out of 10 Americans are suffering from depression. Now you may say that is to be expected considering the times we live in.

But I want to share this with you. If you are a born again child of God, Holy Ghost filled, then you don't have to expect that or accept depression as a way of life. God has given us weapons.

When Jesus redeemed us from sin, sickness, poverty, and defeat, He also redeemed us from depression.

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed
.

The chastisement of our peace was upon Him. PEACE. Jesus paid the price at Calvary on the cross so that you could have PEACE, "Shaw-lome". The word PEACE in this Scripture means whole, complete, spirit, soul, and body. Jesus redeemed the whole person.

I can show you that a worried, depressed, and troubled mind is under the curse.

Deuteronomy 28:65 And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
De 28:66 And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
De 28:67 In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see
.

Now let's go to Galatians 3:13, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.

Because of what Jesus did on the cross, I have been redeemed from a worried, troubled mind and from fear and stress.

But I am going to tell you the truth. Satan is a trespasser. If we don't take a stand against it, he will push depression on us anyway. He will put pressure on your mind, surround you with negative thoughts, and tempt you to speak them out loud.
If we yield to him, we will end up with a spirit of depression, oppressing us, robbing us of joy, health, strength and putting a stop to our Christian productivity.

Friend, if this has already happened to you, there is a way of escape. It is the way of faith. Faith always overcomes anxiety. Feed and cultivate your faith and depression will be pushed out. Faith believes God's Word more than evidence to the contrary.

Abraham was 99 & Sarah 90: Too old in the natural to conceive. But Abraham considered not his own body or his wife's.

Faith doesn't argue with God's Word. Sometimes we argue with the Word. "Well, the Word says I am blessed, but I certainly don't think I am blessed. I think I have a terrible past and a hopeless future." When we battle depression, that's how we think. I know. I've been there.

But, we can use God's Word, believe God's Word, and change the way we think. Go to God's Word and get some new thoughts. Get so full of God's Word that you can't hear those old thoughts anymore, instead you hear God saying:

I'll make you the head not the tail. (Deuteronomy 28)

I'll crown you with loving kindness and tender mercies. (Psalm 103)

I'll uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness. I will help you. (Isaiah 41)

No weapon formed against you shall prosper. (Isaiah 54:17)

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (Isaiah 43:2)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

Put God's Word in your head the last thing at night and the first thing in the morning. Get the jump on the devil.
Fill up on God's Promises at night so when the devil shows up first thing in the morning you can hit him right back with what God says about your circumstance.
Once you have put God's Word in your heart, open your mouth and begin to speak it out.

2 Corinthians 4:13 says, as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.

Faith not only believes, it speaks. Use your mouth to say something good about the Lord. Drown out the enemy with a voice of worship.

You can see David do this in the Scripture time and again in 2 Samuel chapter 21 & 22 for example. When David was battling depression he would worship and bless the Lord.

1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
1pe 3:11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it
.

How many want to see good days? If we want to enjoy good days, we must quit saying bad things about our lives, families, and circumstances. Most of all quit saying bad things about God.

When the devil tries to get you to accuse God, just open your mouth and sing about His goodness. Sing about His faithfulness. Say what the Bible says.

You might say, "Preacher, I don't feel blessed and I sure don't feel happy right now."
It doesn't matter. Do it anyway.

God is good and His mercy endures forever. His Word is sure. He loved us so much He gave His Son. Let His Word and His praise change how you feel.

Romans 4:17 Even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

He called Abram the father of many nations when he was old and childless. It came to pass.
He called Gideon a mighty man of valour while he was hiding. It came to pass.
He called Peter a rock when he felt like a failure. It came to pass.
He called a shepherd boy a king. It came to pass.

Do you know what changed these men's lives?
They got into agreement with what God had called them. It took Peter a while, but, oh my, when he did, he became a man of God whose shadow fell on people and they were healed.

The Bible says in Romans 8:37, Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Isn't it time we took our place and pushed the devil back instead of him pushing us?

You may be feeling weak right now, but God's strength is inside you. Tap into it. Start developing your faith.
You're not weak.

Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.

You are not poor and pitiful. You are in Christ and He is Almighty.
Start now to drive out depression.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
