I thought to myself, "This could be talking about our spiritual walk with the Lord." We have to have courage every day to overcome the circumstances of life. But with the Lord's help we can do it. Let's look at each of these circumstances and the Scriptures that relate to them.
CONFRONTING THE DRAGONS:
Revelation chapters 12,13,16, & 20 refers to Satan as the dragon. We must have courage and believe that God has given us (the born again) power over the enemy and use that power.
In Luke 10:19 Jesus said, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy (Satan): and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1pe 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith.
Just like Jesus, in Matthew chapter 4 & Luke chapter 4, we are to use the Word of God to defeat Satan.
OVERCOMING THE OBSTACLES:
This is how we (the born again) overcome: The whole armour of God, submitting to God & resisting Satan, our faith, the Blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony, and realizing WHO lives in us.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.
UNDERSTANDING THE RISKS:
It takes courage to be a Christian and stand up for what is right. Many people in the Bible, and still today, were persecuted for the Gospel. God never promised us a bed of ease, but He said He would never leave us nor forsake us, and He would make a way of escape from our problems.
Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mt 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mt 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
Jesus said in, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." He said He came to give us life more abundantly.
Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
De 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Read Deuteronomy 28:1-14 to see what those blessings are.
Psalm 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Ps 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Ps 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Ps 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
We must believe that God is a good Father and takes care of His children. He gives us whatever we need and even the desires of our hearts.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Ro 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
2 Timothy 1:12 ... for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
GOING THE DISTANCE:
Go the distance with God. 1 Corinthians 9:24 says run that ye may obtain the prize. In Philippians 3:14 Paul said, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Hebews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
EXPECTING THE BEST:
If we are born again with God as our Father then we should expect good things in life. Oh, we will have trouble, but God is there to see us through everything we face.
Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Matthew 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken (left) houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
And the best is yet to come. Living with our Father for eternity when this life is over and being free from care. Praise God!
Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
