Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mt 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.
As it was in the days of Noah before the flood. How was it?
Genesis 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Ge 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Ge 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Ge 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Ge 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Verse 2. Who are the sons of God?
2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
A separated people that have no agreement with idols.
Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Heb 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
The sons of God. Men like Enoch that walked with God. Jesus said as many as believed on Him, He gave them power to become the sons of God.
It is important that you realize who the sons of God are before we go on.
Our opening text said as it was in the days of Noah before the flood so shall it be at the coming of Jesus.
Well, we see that as men began to multiply on the earth they began to look away from God. They began to worship idols, the sun, moon, etc., and there became 2 kinds of people on earth: Mankind and the sons of God. And Genesis 6:2 tells us that the sons of God began to look upon the daughters of men that they were fair.
God's people began to look at the things of the world and began to lust after the pleasures of the world. They began to compromise with idol worship. Now remember what we read in 2 Corinthians that the sons of God hath no agreement with idols? As the sons of God began to intermarry and intermix with idol worshippers and pagans, so we see a lot of Churches today trying to intermix with the ways of the world.
I am sure these men said, "Oh, I am still going to serve God. But I don't see what it would hurt to mix with the world a little."
Now, don't misunderstand what I am talking about. I am not talking about shunning sinners or the lost. And I am not talking about natural marriage. I am talking about an attitude of: "I am still going to call myself a Christian but if my neighbor throws rocks in my yard again I am going to smack him in the mouth." I am talking about an attitude of: "I'll still serve God and call myself a Christian but if so and so is at church tonight I am leaving."
I am talking about people trying to be part of the Bride of Christ and married to the things of this world at the same time. I am talking about taking the name of the Lord thy God in vain, putting on the name of Jesus while at the same time holding onto the things of this world like: Lust - Greed - Envy - Unforgiveness - Hate - Strife - Fornication - Selfishness.
We are living in the last generation. A generation that likes to be called Christian, but church and God are last on their list. They will come to church if it doesn't interfere with anything else, if there is nothing on TV to watch. A generation that takes God's name in vain. That says, "I am so glad I am saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost", and with the next breath will say, "Pray I win my lawsuit so I can take my neighbors home from him."
If you have taken on the name of Jesus then strive to take on the nature or you have taken His name in vain.
Genesis 6:4 says there were giants in the land. Giant in Hebrew meant bully or tyrant.
Because of their intermixing with idol worshippers their children became tossed between 2 beliefs with no respect for either, but only to the lusts of the flesh and became bullies and tyrants without compassion, renown for their evil.
Jesus said, "Be hot or cold."
A true Christian will show love, kindness, and mercy to you. An old sinner will often show sympathy and compassion, but someone stuck in that middle ground will get bitter, cold, and unforgiving and will say, "Oh, he is just getting what he deserves."
Take a look around as it was in the days of Noah.
Let's go back to Matthew 24:38. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.
They had lost the voice of the Spirit. They were eating, drinking and partying and disaster came and took them unprepared and unaware. They felt nothing in their conscience they were not stirred or moved to repentance.
I look around today. Big churches haven't worked. Programs haven't worked. You can't offer them chicken and get them to church. But there is something that will work. And we can bring some lost to Christ. Turn to Isaiah chapter 60.
Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
Isa 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
Isa 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
It is going to take the manifestation of the Holy Ghost power to draw. Jesus said to preach the Gospel with signs following.
As it was in the days of Noah. Take a look around. Read verse 5.
Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Go back to Matthew 24:38. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.
