A GOD WHO DELIVERS
Our text is Exodus chapter 3.
I want to talk about the God who delivers - rescues.
We have a God of blessing, a God of mercy, a God that loves us and a God who delivers - rescues. Praise His name He can deliver us out of all situations. There is nothing too hard for God to break through.
Acts 10:38 says Jesus healed all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him.
Many times today people and even Christian people find themselves in bondage: addiction, depression, fear, lack, debt, regret, etc.
Sometimes we come to church with things hanging on our lives and clouds of doubt around us and problems that, in ourselves, we can find no answer.
I have come to tell you that we have a delivering God!
It doesn't matter what kind of captivity you have fallen into or how long you have been there, God is able to break the chains and bring freedom.
Let's go back to our text.
Look at verses 6-8.God said, "I have seen, I have heard, and I am come down.
"That is worth shouting about!.
We have a God that sees and hears and has come down.
He doesn't just look on, He will get involved if we let him.
God wanted to do something. He wanted to free His people. He wanted Israel free and He wants us free. God sees your problem. He knows your name. He knows how many hairs are on your head.
He knows when you sit down and He knows when you get up. There is not a single word that comes out of your mouth that He doesn't know about.
Now when God saw Israel's peril and heard them begin to cry out to Him He looked for someone He could use. God is still looking for people He can use.
In Ezekiel 22:30 God spoke through the prophet to a backslidden people, to Jerusalem, and said, "And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should destroy it not: but I found none.
But, when Israel was in Egypt, God found someone to stand in the gap. He found Moses hiding on the backside of the desert. God called Moses out of a desolate place out of a dry place to lead His people into freedom.
Maybe God is calling you out of the desert today because He wants to use you. Maybe, like Moses, you have had a lot of excuses or feel too weak or too small.God sent Moses to face Pharoah. Pharoah had an army. Moses had a stick. Pharoah lost. That stick became the rod of God and before long we see Moses hold that stick in the air and 2 or 3 million people following him out of Egypt. He lifted that rod over the sea and it divided.
In our text in verse 8 God said, "I am come down to deliver them out."
One day God looked down at a world lost in sin and he found no man to stand in the gap to make up the hedge so God came down and became that man and His name is Jesus and He has come to set the captive free.
Hebrews 7:24-25 says He ever liveth to make intercession for those that come unto God by Him.
Friend, Jesus is standing in the breach for you. He has torn down the wall of sin that seperated us from God. He has seen your suffering and has heard your cries and has come down to deliver you out of bondage.
You may say, "I prayed and God didn't hear me."
Oh, He heard you. When you cussed you thought He heard you. Why don't you think He heard you when you prayed?
Say this out loud so the devil can hear you, but also so you can hear you:
GOD SEES MY TROUBLE. GOD HEARS MY PRAYER.
THE TIDE OF THIS BATTLE TURNED IN MY FAVOR WHEN I PRAYED!
God wants to bring you off the backside of the desert and set you free and use you to lead others out of their captivity.
God set the bush on fire and got Moses attention.
God is going to set some churches on fire (spiritually).
He is going to set some Christians on fire in these last days.
God said in His Word that the latter house will be greater than the former house.
God is going to get some people's attention in these last days.
God told Moses, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people. I know their sorrows, and I have come down.
"He told Moses, " I want you to take that rod in your hand, and I'll be with you."
Maybe, like Moses, you've been trying to hide out, but you were never really hid.Moses hid from his calling 40 years.
He was 80 when God called him off the desert.
God knew where he was all the time.
He knows where you are right now.
He may be calling you to salvation, calling you to be a light, calling you to be delivered, but He is calling.
Will you answer, "Here am I?"
God looked for a deliverer for Israel to bring thim out of Egypt.
We have a deliverer.
His name is Jesus and the Bible says that in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily ( Colossians 2:9 ) and He is come down in the Holy Ghost.
He is still seeking and saving that which is lost.Answer His call today.
