Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

I Corinthians 15:31 I die daily.

I want to talk about the personal partnership we have with Jesus, and about A Crucified Man.

Paul said, I am curcified with Christ. Jesus was crucified in our place.

What does it mean to be crucified with Christ?

First I thought about what it means to be crucified. Aside from the suffering, there are some facts about being crucified that every Christian needs.

1. A Crucified Man Can't Look Back.

Too many Christians are trying to face 2 directions at the same time. Their heart is divided. They want to go to heaven but they are in love with the world. Like Lot's wife, they are running one way but looking another. She learned from her husband when he pitched his tent toward Sodom.

But a crucified man doesn't look back. He keeps facing forward.

Paul wrote in Philippians 3:13. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

Let's look at our other opening scriptures.

Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

2. A Crucified Man Is Not Overcome By His Own Future Plans Or Desires.

A crucified man has no more future plans of his own. He is not dreaming of a bigger house or a newer car. The charms are gone and the chains are broken.

Paul said I am crucified with Christ. I am a walking dead man. My ambitions have been swallowed up in His. I no longer live but there is a new life in me a new force that drive me and it is life: The life of Jesus, abundant life to the absolute, Zoe. But the old man is dead. Don't try to bribe him. Don't try to offend him. He is dead. And the life I now live I live through Christ.

So where are we?

1. A Crucified Man Doesn't Look Back.
2. A Crucified Man Is Not Overcome By His Own Future Plans Or Desires. He is not looking for fame or fortune.

Something else about a crucified man. He not only isn't looking back:
3. He Isn't Going Back.

Elisha burned his plows and killed his oxen in I Kings 20:21.
They that are Christ's have crucified the flesh (Galatians 5:24).

What is a crucified man going to go back to?

Listen, once Moses really caught sight of who he was and what his inheritance was in God, all the riches of the Pharoah couldn't tempt him back.

Hebrews 11:24-26 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

He was a dead man walking. He was not going back. He was dead to this world and what it could give and alive to the reward of Christ.

Does anyone understand?

There is no life until first there is a death. I am talking spiritually; a dying out to the flesh. I couldn't get a new life until I was ready to give up the old one.

Paul said in I Corinthians 15:31, "I die daily."

A lot of people want to be a partner in his death through baptism and a partner in His resurrection. But they don't want to be a partner in His crucifixion. They don't want to die out to sin or die out to the desires of the flesh.

Paul said, "I die daily." In other words he brought his flesh into obedience to the Spirit that now lives in him.

Have you been crucified with Christ?

In order for a new life to be born in you the old life or nature must die.

Friends, don't look back. Keep facing home. Let God plan your future and you will not want to go back.

Remember the crucified man:
Doesn't Look Back
Is Not Overcome By His Own Future Plans Or Desires
He Isn't Going Back
