1 Corinthians 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
1 co 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
1 co 2:3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
1 co 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
1 co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1 co 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
1 co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
1 co 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1 co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
1 co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God

Paul said, That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
And let's take a close look at verses 9 &10, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard.

Now I didn't want to start naming the 5 hindrances to faith yet.  But if you're paying attention, we just named 2 of them.  Man's wisdom, our carnal mind, is ruled by what we see and hear.  But if we want to know the things of God, we will have to have spiritual sight and hearing based on God's Word and not what the world has taught us.
What we place before our eyes and in our ears will affect our faith. It is important for your victory that you guard what is fed into your spirit.

In the 3rd chapter of Genesis when Satan came to Eve, he did not deny the existence of God, but implied that God was holding out on them. "So you can't eat from every tree."

Psalm 84:11, no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Satan implied to Eve that God was withholding some good thing from her.

You will never receive your healing or your victory if you believe God is holding it away from you for some reason.

Hear this. Satan did not deny the power of God but caused Eve to question His goodness.
There is much of that today. "Oh, I am sure God is able to help, but I don't know if He will."

The Word says in Hebrews 4:16 that we may come boldly unto the throne of grace and obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of trouble.

Listen, Eve heard the lie of the devil.  Eve saw the tree, the Bible says, it was pleasant to the eye, and she began to be lead by carnal wisdom, and not the Word of God. Sparked by a desire to be wise, and be independent of God, she ate.
Satan knew God's Word was true. Man became the unbeliever. Adam's perfect Spirit ruled mind, became a sense ruled mind.

When Adam hid from God, because he was naked, God said to Adam, "Who told you you were naked?"  Naked was not a problem while he was ruled by the Spirit.  It only became a problem when his mind became sense ruled.  Adam's intellect had jumped up and took control over his spirit.  He was no longer on the level where God had placed him, where his spirit controlled his flesh, but was now on the level of the 5 senses.  And to be ruled by our 5 senses is to be carnally minded.

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death.
Adam's spirit was terminal.

5 great hindrances to faith:  Our 5 senses.

We listen to them instead of what God says.

It was Peter's physical senses that caused him to sink.  The circumstances around him stole the Word from his heart.

Now, I am not telling you to walk around with your eyes closed and cotton in your ears.  I am not telling you to ignore your senses, but here is the key. Your senses are to be controlled by your spirit and not your spirit by your senses.
Example: Don't let a bad report that you hear fill your heart with fear, but place God's Word above that report.

That brings us to verse 12 of our text.  To know the good things of God and to receive them we must rise above our natural thinking and believe what God says no matter what circumstances look like, sound like, or feel like.

God is raising up warriors in this last day that are not moved by circumstances but by the Word and power of a living Christ.
Will you be one?
